Happy New Year everyone.

2021 was a difficult year for many reasons.

I do apologize for not getting all this out sooner.

Below you will find the results of our annual general meeting from May 2021. I hope these will lead to some positive outcomes for 2022.

1) A link to the recording for the May 2021 meeting has been included for your reference. It was a well attending meeting with 33 cardiac surgeons on the call out of 65 in the province.

2) Also included are the submissions made this month to the OMA-MSPC (the OMA side of the joint OMA and ministry committee) for fee changes.

I do believe that through the current negotiations there likely will be a small increase to the physician services budget. Any increase to the physician services budget will be distributed based on the currently accepted joint version of relativity which remains unchanged since the last negotiation, for the current negotiation.

Any increase divided by the small number of surgeons that we are could be significant to the individual.

We however have to claim every potential penny and justify every claim over other specialists claims that may include us to some small degree.

These are lessons learned from the last negotiation.

I am expected to make a presentation supporting these requests as noted below.

I am allowed to bring guests and experts (these must be OMA members).

My submissions were extensive with literature support and comparisons to other provinces nonetheless your support, advice and suggestions are always appreciated.

The presentation schedule is confirmed, and your section is slated to present to the OMA-MSPC on Feb. 25, 2022 from 10:00 am - 10:30 am.

Feel free to email, text or call me anytime.
